Accelerated Blu-ray Encoder and More

Based on the PCI Express form factor, our FIRECODER Blu board provides accelerated encoding of Blu-ray compatible video sourced from any number of video applications, including our own EDIUS nonlinear editing software. You can then output its results directly to a Blu-ray disc or to a Blu-ray compatible file for additional authoring.

The FIRECODER Blu board also lets you transcode between H.264 and MPEG-2 formats; it supports 1080i and 720p as well as native 24p Blu-ray formats. It supports up- and downconversion of standard- and high-definition (SD and HD) sources. And it encodes HD source materials 2X faster than real time—and SD source materials 4-5X faster than real time.

If you're working in a file-based, networked environment and need to see your projects output in real-time, using affordable HDMI monitors, our HDSPARK hardware solution is ideal. Based on the PCI Express form factor, it is available with full or upgradable versions or our EDIUS nonlinear editing software—as well as an HDMI output board supports full-resolution, real-time preview monitoring. It also features embedded HDMI audio and separate stereo RCA jacks for high-quality audio monitoring.

HD THUNDER
HD/SD-SDI-Based Editing with HDMI Monitoring Output

Our HDTHUNDER hardware is a premium, high-powered solution for multi-format editing—one that supports SDI-based editing and tapeless workflows and the ability to preview projects in real time, using affordable HDMI monitors. Based on the PCI Express form factor, it includes our EDIUS nonlinear editing software, HD-SDI inputs and outputs, an HDMI video output for full-resolution, real-time preview monitoring, and embedded HDMI audio for high-quality audio monitoring.

Among the features of the HDTHUNDER solution are timecode input and output for accurate editing from field logs, reference input support for blackburst and tri-level sync, machine control for external VTR ingest, and optional VTR emulation software that that lets you control an EDIUS editor like a VTR for direct playout from the workstation.

A single PCI Express form factor board and packaged with a full version* of the latest EDIUS editing software, HDSTORM allows you to work with HDMI inputs and outputs, and has a Canopus HQ hardware codec built-in for optimized, CPU-free capture and export of files.

HDSTORM empowers you with constantly synched, full-resolution preview of effects and content directly from the EDIUS timeline. The power of having the Canopus HQ codec on-board means you won’t be restricted by CPU speeds or workstation limitations when ingesting or creating high-quality Canopus HQ AVI files for editing. Keeping the compression processing separate from your CPU brings new reliability and system performance to the editing and effects creation environment.

Edius SP-SDI
Outstanding Real-Time Editing for Analog, DV, HDV and SD SDI

Our EDIUS SP-SDI solution is a software/hardware system that is the most advanced professional nonlinear editing system in its class, one that seamlessly integrates into existing studio environments.

On the software side, the system uses our EDIUS nonlinear editing software to deliver true real-time editing and full-quality, full-resolution output of HD and SD materials—as well as multi-track, mixed-format editing, compositing, chroma keying, titling, and timeline output capabilities. In addition to the standard formats of the EDIUS family, the software supports Infinity™ JPEG 2000, P2, DVCPRO HD, AVC-Intra, VariCam, XDCAM and GFCAM video. It also supports all DV and HDV cameras and decks.

On the hardware side, the EDIUS SP-SDI system features hardware-based video overlay and high-quality video I/O circuitry. It interfaces with professional and consumer video equipment including SD SDI, HDV, DV, and all analog cameras and decks. And it supports professional video equipment with component video and XLR balanced audio I/O, as well as frame-accurate RS-422 VTR control and external reference sync input connections.

A 19-inch 1U breakout box is also available as an option for EDIUS SP-SDI systems (sold separately). The EDIUS SP baseboard is also available in a 64-bit PCI-X form factor, for those that do not require SD SDI connectivity, but do require hardware compatibility with older workstation- and server-oriented motherboards (see Options).

Many of the HDV editing systems currently available compromise video quality in order to provide realtime editing functionality. Grass Valley EDIUS NX Express delivers genuine realtime HD resolution editing including full quality, full frame rate HD output — to an HD video monitor — from the timeline.
